Katherine Rhodes - Silhouettes and Gray

I sat staring
at what they said was colors
but to me was just blobs
of gray, or grey
and wondered what they meant,
why was this thrilling
was this supposed to make me feel
happy?
what should have been stimulating my eyes
and exciting my mind
meant nothing.
my mind was elsewhere
near the river
where you always go
watching the silhouettes of the river boats
and the light reflect
off your breath in the cold air,
secretly wishing that you’d touch me,
kiss me, need me,
like I need you
because my time without you
has been just blobs
of gray, or grey
and meant nothing
except that I know
I can’t live without you
