John F. Koenig first earned his bachelor’s degree in Pre-Law Studies from Bob Jones University in South Carolina. From there, he went on to earn his Doctor of Law from Thomas M. Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University. John has been practicing law for nearly 20 years. He specializes in Medicaid planning, Medicaid crisis planning, special needs trusts, veterans’ benefits, powers of attorney and asset protection planning.

Mr. Koenig has worked at numerous Wisconsin law firms over the years, learning new skills along the way. He has done everything from developing and marketing a law practice to spearheading and growing an Elder Law practice area at an existing boutique Estate Planning firm. In addition to the typical tasks of an attorney, John F. Koenig has developed unique skills. One is his public speaking experience. He has led Estate Planning and Elder Law workshops, as well as Continuing Education programs for financial and insurance professionals. John F. Koenig is happiest in his career when he’s an integral part of a company that provides both the opportunity for career development and personal enrichment.

One of John’s leisurely hobbies is following college basketball. He is a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, Indiana Hoosiers, Duke, and Kentucky, among others. Although he doesn’t follow professional basketball, Mr. Koenig has been known to root for the Green Bay Packers during football season. He is a passionate supporter of his favorite teams.
