Jesus knew he could easily die by crucifixion in coming to Jerusalem During the Jewish Passover because he had already been threatened and was as part of his teaching purpose challenging the establishment. Thus in the context of being human, yet living for greater purpose than ego desire, just says this great prayer that we can all say now and then to keep our ego and its desires grounded.
