You were the hardest one to fool
you knew me inside out
knew my innermost thoughts, hopes, desires
it took some planning
twisting and deceiving
a lifetime of lowered eyes
an age of turmoil
battles raging, old versus new
centuries old conundrum
would peace ever reign?
raw pain
a rebirth
an awakening, a dawning
the gold in the river of blackness
understanding settles
why even try...
I can't lie anymore
I know myself too well
for how can you fool yourself?
