Jacqui Widener - The Day After

The lovemaking is so intense, but relaxed and fun
The emotions so deep, even though relatively new

The comfort level rising hour by hour, day by day
The knowing of each other becomes deeper and deeper,

The familiarity becomes more and more,
The ease of being together so natural

The appreciation of finding each other
So grateful for our meeting at this time in our lives

The surprise that love can be so exciting and powerful
As strong as the raging hormones of a teenager

But stronger.... as one has lived and experienced
All manner of love, disappointment, and life

The appreciation of love at this late stage
Is almost as overwhelming as it is breathtaking

The Aftermath or pain of separation
So hard to know how to part and be without

But so important to remember how fortunate
We, who have experienced deep feelings, are

Just so hard to find a way to deal with the aloneness
For as much as the love is beautiful, the separation is painful

Must always remember it is only a matter of time
Until we are together again
