Description

I don't want to be poetic as I deliver these lines,
because that's not the way that I'd like
to tell you exactly how this man feels
as you slowly slip out of my sight;
I don't want to use fancy words to describe
how you simply make me feel whole
and how I cried as I turned from your lovely face
to find the warmth I once felt was then cold.

I don't want to exaggerate when I say
that though you're seeking the meaning of love
I know damn well where I found my definition
and its not from an angel above:
because they do not carry the weight of life
as you do in your ocean eyes,
and in them I don't see untameable spirit
like the swells of the tireless tide.

I don't want to be poetic as I deliver these lines,
but one day I'll be a thought in your head
from those hazy days from a time long past,
and should you change with the path that you tread,
I'll hold a picture of you in these words,
though we've both had our share of strife,
and I'll think to myself how I once loved that girl,
and how she painted herself in my life.

So now we part as grains of sand on the wind,
and though the prison of life still remains,
remember that my arms were open to you once,
and I promise they will be again
