Insular Glioma

A type of tumour that starts in brain or spine, is Glioma and it is named so because it arises from the glial cells which are commonly known as the glue of the nervous system. Insula is a structure located deep within the brain on both sides which also turns out to be a common location for brain tumors. Insular tumor overwhelm branches of the middle cerebral artery and damage to these blood vessels during surgery can lead to stroke and paralysis.
