Improv Cafe, "Sob Stories"

"Sob Stories" tells a tale of 5 friends pouring out their hearts to each other and trying to cope with life's woes. One purpose of the skit is to show the contrast of how people react to their own and each other's problems. The first four people describe severe, difficult problems, and no one reacts with any compassion or care. By contrast, the last person experiences an extremely minor problem (tongue biting), and everyone rushes to comfort her. It shows the human tendency for biased / selective compassion. Why do some people get sympathy for their problems and others do not?

This episode was created in a few hours using improvisational acting, a camcorder, and some basic editing software.
