Mastering the knockdown shot is as simple as making the necessary adjustments to your set up position. Once you do you are putting yourself in a position that changes the way the club contacts the ball. Pure contact is made when the club is descending. Is this descending blow that contacts the ball first then it enters the ground.

Because the club the ball first, it causes the ball to propel forward so even if you are in the worst lie possible you can still end up hitting a half decent shot due to the descending blow created.
