How to form an LLC in Virginia under the statute 13.1-1011 that allows a resident to apply for a domestic limited liability company by filing an Articles of Organization, pay a filing fee, and submit to the Secretary of State.

Steps
1 Choose Your LLC Name. - This first step is choosing a name for your LLC. It is highly recommended to choose a name that is marketable to your industry.
If you think your name may have been taken, check the Virginia LLC Database.
2 Download Virginia Articles of Organization. - This is the official application for forming an LLC in Virginia. You will need to completely fill in this form either on the computer or printed out in black ink.
Pay filing fee of $100 payable to the 'Virginia Secretary of State'
Send Articles of Organization and filing fee to the following address: Clerk of the State Corporation Commission, P.O. Box 1197 Richmond, Virginia 23218-1197
3 Wait for LLC in Mail. - You will need to wait for your LLC to arrive at the mailing address of the principal office. This should take between 10 to 15 business days from the day you sent your documents in the mail.
4 Employer Identification Number. - The IRS will need to identify you the same way they do personally, through a Tax ID Number. In order for you to open a bank account you will need to have this number.
