Honor Killings are “Murders committed by male family members of female family members, who are perceived to have brought dishonor upon the family by refusing to enter into an arranged marriage, being the victim of a sexual assault, seeking a divorce from an abusive husband — or (allegedly) committing adultery.
The mere perception that a woman has behaved dishonorably is sufficient.”
The murders are often pre-meditated and usually committed by a father, brother or uncle in an attempt to gain
approval and standing in their local communities.

Today 52 nations have had or still are having honor killings, including Holland, Germany, Sweden, the UK and the U.S.
