Description
36% of Pakistan’s population continues to live below poverty line. Similarly, half of all child deaths in the country can be attributed to poor nutrition or hunger and malnutrition related diseases. Most of these impoverished people end up finding rotten food in garbage. A majority of them often starve or survive on very small quantities of food. When sick, they do not get access to proper treatment and medicines due to financial challenges.
To assist these unfortunate people sustain a respectable living, Help Pakistan was founded in 2008 in Karachi, as a poverty-focused project under AL-Rehman Welfare Trust, a locally registered, non-government, not-for-profit welfare trust. We have no religious, sectarian, ethnic or political affiliations.
Our objective is to become a bridge between poverty-stricken people and donors by providing financial assistance for food and critical medical treatment to impoverished families in Pakistan. We also provide support to find employment and finance education, vocational training and wedding arrangements for the underprivileged.
Later, one or more of the family members are supported in finding a job, doing some home based work like stitching and embroidery or push cart selling, anything based on their skill set or interest, etc.
The people chosen to be provided with relief are selected by our team from shanty towns, urban slums and katchi abadis or referred to us by people like you. Our primary focus is on widows, handicapped or disabled, sick and age old and people with no earning or very scarce earning. We also pursue disaster relief or special projects based upon their critical nature.
