Heather Stephens - Ode to music

As I listen to you my wonderful music
Soft, beautiful, and calming,
The notes that come through your speakers
Calms me down when I am angered

I tried to keep you off my mind
But when you’re all I have its hard,
As I listen to your pain, your sorrow
I fall deeper in love with you.

I feel the thump of you
Underneath my dancing feet,
And the fast beat of my heart
When you’re not with me.

As I listen to your stories
And see them in my head,
I can’t tell you that I love you
When you are merely just air.

I come to the place you live
Where you’re born and where you die,
I can’t help but smile
When your words come from my voice

Its almost like music can talk to me
Cries, laughs, and thinks,
I can hear it calling on its telephone
And I answer it with my mind.

Sometimes I dance with you
Our bodies move with the beat,
As you move through me
You disappear with the beat of my heart.

I can’t give you my undying love
When you are just a voice,
I can’t give you a big hug
When you are not really there.

I love you my music
As you stay by my soul,
You will be there forever
And will never ever go.
