Hi, in this video I have explained with animation, how the thermal energy travels by Conduction through a metal rod, and a practical feel for how Searle's Apparatus works. I have also shown the Derivation of the equation for Thermal Conductivity of a solid material (a round bar in this sketch) by equating the Heat Lost with Heat Gained. Going though this derivation will give confidence.
