Guarded Heart - Phantom

My time for change is nearing
The multitude of goodbyes and farewells i'm hearing
Am i leaving to soon?
Will you be able to find me?

That you might dissappear into eternity
you don't know, but it's my greatest fear

Each morning wake, i wonder
Why is your face the last thing i see?
Before glorious dawn comes to wake me?
Why now, after all this time, do you haunt my dreams?
Puzzled, for when i wake, your kiss lingers on my lips
Your aura glowing on my skin

My mind wanders to thoughts of you
My hidden love and passion for you
I wonder, when he looks at me, does he see you?
For i was but a blank canvas until you painted me
Does he see your signature?
Does he think about when you were here?

I try to keep quiet, pretend i have forgotten
For i no longer have the right to you
But you won't leave my memory
And i won't let you go

My love, my phantom, for you come now only in my dreams
Do you crave my skin as i crave yours?
If i looked into your eyes, would you look back at me?
Would you quiver if i touched you, the way you used to?

Or

Are you merely a phantom, my phantom?
Something i conjured up in my dreams?
A figment of my imagination?
Extracted out of all the blissful memories
That i keep close to me, so close
Just beneath the finest layer of flesh
Is every kiss, and perhaps that is it
Perhaps it is all fantasy, or perhaps it is a reality?
And maybe you might still come for me
