Born on January 21, 1956, in Wareham, Massachusetts, actress Geena Davis first worked as a model before landing a small role in the 1982 film Tootsie. In 1988, she won an Oscar for her role in The Accidental Tourist and in 1991 gained attention for her role opposite Susan Sarandon in Thema & Louise. Later, appearing on television, she won a Golden Globe for the series Commander and Chief.
