Gallina Negra

"Black Hen" is the video documentation of a common scene in Mexico's rural areas: a hen in a henhouse, apart from its chicks. The cage is covered with a plastic banner from the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), the oldest Mexican political party and main responsible of the corruption and sacking of Mexico after 70 years of governing. The banner is detritus of a political campaign somewhere near this ranch in the southern state of Chiapas. It was re-used by the country men of this place for a real, practical purpose.
The video is metaphor of a country trapped by its historic circumstances.
