Fred Babbin - I am now

I am now a one-eyed poet, a one-eyed Jack
in a sea of dolphins that speak,
but I know not- I don't know- what they say
she is leaving me, and I must leave her.
I am sorry, for I love her very much.
But madness is over there while I am over here,
not knowing if it will get me with my one eye.
I am waiting in my one universe
that can be no one else's
She is not me, I am not she.
When I am blind, madness will be mine
and death will reign in nothingness.
