Description

About 400 foreign troops posted in Afghanistan got together at NATO headquarters in Kabul to greet the arrival of the new year.
They danced and sang the evening away as 2012 swept in.
But many said they missed being at home for the event.
SOUNDBITE: Christopher Edwards, NATO soldier, saying (English):
"I want to say happy new years everybody back home, I love you, and I'll be home soon."
SOUNDBITE: Shawn Walsh, NATO soldier, saying (English):
"I love you guys, I miss you all and I wish you the best and I'll be home in, like, a month."
There are about 130, 000 foreign troops still in Afghanistan as part of NATO's mission there.
They're gradually being withdrawn as security responsibilities are handed over to Afghan forces.
Foreign combat troops are due to leave at the end of 2014...a new year's celebration likely to be enjoyed with even more enthusiasm.
