Fool Pays $60,000 for Mars bar!
280 attendees at the Business and Marketing event at Surfers Paradise were stunned when Mal Emery , the Perth based Internet marketer and business coach, surprisingly auctioned Two Mars Bars for a total of $120,000, with the proceeds going to the Jenny McKenna Foundation and Ganngjalah Cultural Gardens
Mr Emery persuaded nineteen other marketing and internet specialists at the event to donate more than $176,000 worth of products and consulting services to ‘add value’ to the Mars Bars being auctioned.
With the Iconic “Mars Bar” chocolate bar in one hand, passionate charity supporter Mal Emery whipped up a frenzy, fielding bids rapidly from more than 15 of the 280 people at the event.
“When you buy a Mars Bar” he says, “The company often gives you an added extra, like 20% more bar or the chance to win more bars, a fridge or even a car – just by spending $1.30. It’s a traditional marketing tool of ‘adding value’ to a purchase which I teach people every day.” The Perth entrepreneur operates a flourishing marketing business and personally coaches hundreds of entrepreneurs.
By including over $176,000 worth of marketing products and services with the two Mars Bars, Mal raised $60,000 for the Jenny McKenna Foundation and $60,000 for Ganngjalah Cultural Gardens - thanks to his auction, and the generosity of the other internet and marketing experts at his event.
