They are safe because of the pickup truck that slammed on the brakes causing it to get rear-ended by multiple vehicles. Most people here are busy getting to work, the last thing they care about is safety. If you don't care about your safety, please think about others. Sure you can argue the motorists were tailgating and they wouldn't have crashed if going at a safe distance. But in a crowded city like this, it is almost impossible to do so. All these incidents happened within a timeline of 30 days and this just shows how dangerous jaywalking can be.
