With respect to Loudon Wainwright III


I'm a solo bloke
At night time I'll laugh at a one man joke
As I sip my solitaire vodka and coke
Safe in the knowledge that I'll never be broke(n)
In my one man life
With connection to my estranged wife
I don't feel the need for a knife
My omnicompetence is rife
Yet a twenty five mile dad
Is a real pain to be had
It causes me to be a tad mad
But never the cad
In my sometimes sad pad.
I know my son
And have recognised the fun
Since his time had begun
Love by the ton
No battles to be won
I know the deal
But it causes me to feel
Like my skin needs to peel
In his presence it does anneal.
A mutual reliance
To the world I'll show my defiance
He is my son.
