Brother darkness, brother darkness
Draw a veil across my mind
Give me respite from my thoughts
So that solace I might find
May your blackness be my pillow
And your silence be my spread
All colours turn to grey shades
To relieve my aching head
Let the shadows not have demons
Of the things I cannot be
Take away the painful knowledge
Of the fact I must decree
Give me your panacea
Your void of ebony sea
Then release me in the morning
So that I might clearly see
