Each week I try to change my fate
Each Saturday I make a date
I sit down with my ballpoint pen
And check my lines of eight from ten
In the hope that I'll become
The owner of a tidy sum

Lady Luck may smile on me
If not maybe the Lottery
Will put a smile upon my face
And ease my exit from th'rat race
Six numbers or five would do
With bonus ball for pastures new

Holidays, big cars, newhome
Around the world be free to roam
If it came true I would not gloat
While lounging on my Med bound boat
And while I'm dreaming of my yacht
I'll not be sad with what I've got

Old Reg nextdoor deserves a break
And just like me he pays his stake
Now fate dealt him a cruel blow
His wife left him ten years ago
Reg turned to God and t'local rector
His wife ran off wi' t'pools collector

A pile of cash would not change me
A great millstone it would not be
And if it ever seemed that way
I could always give it away
I'm sure old Reg would do the same
If he struck lucky at yon game

Now if I won a big jackpot
I'd help Reg from his sorry lot
I hope he'd do the same for me
If he came good on t'Lottery
It did Reg good turning to God
He's just won t'pools the jammy sod!
