'He likes a drink' they say 'bout me
And they're not talking pot of tea
I'll take a nip, I'll have a gill
I'll drink all day and ne'er be ill

There're those that drink on empty stomachs
They make no sense, my thoughts they flummox
When I'm on form in t'local pub
I've made damn sure I've had my grub

For drink will never give you pleasure
If you can't take a decent measure
Learn to savour every drop
Have your fill, know when to stop

A man whose limits he does know
Will always be the one to go
All the way when on the razz
Not alcopops and all that jazz

But finest ale and whisky pure
They suit me fine and make me sure
The years will never take their toll
For I'm preserved in alcohol
