Description
So do I now with pride at last begin
My poem that forever shall be known
As number five hundred of those within
This crop of mostly sonnets I have sown.
My strajnge desire to use this special form
Was first apparent as I then compiled
A speech to be quite different from the norm:
To that aim I was wed and reconciled.
Maybe because as I recall that speech
Attraced much applause, and many fell
About in fits of laughter as they each
Then struggled with the strange iambic spell.
That form of verse that Shakespeare made his own
Has grown the finest crop that I have known.
