In Rome in 1978, Enea (Damiano Gavino) is a young aspiring filmmaker, and Pietro (Andrea di Luigi) is a medical student. A casual encounter at a movie theater blossoms into an unforgettable romance, but destiny intervenes and pulls them apart. During a student protest outside the Nuovo Olimpo movie theater, chaos ensues, and Enea loses all contact with Pietro.

Four decades later, Enea and Pietro meet again. However, they realize that their lives have taken very different paths. Rather than rekindling their relationship, they promise to always remember each other. They part ways with the understanding that their lives would have been drastically different if they had not been separated back in 1978.
