The festival of Christmas trees in the Old Riga
There were dozens of trees of various configurations and shapes on Christmas Eve in the Old town . The Latvian capital for many years is fighting for the right to be called the first city in Europe where, on Christmas holidays,Christmas trees are put in homes and decorated with toys. It is believed that this tradition was established in Riga 500 years ago and still delights locals and visitors alike.
