Elke Nigro - A Showerfest

An exercise-driven jogger just passed by,
wearing a pained expression on his face,
not inspiring me to join the race.

I decide on a hot, soothing shower instead,
with thousands of droplets dancing on my
head,

Untangling knoted anxieties to run down
the drain,
a showering of droplets,
the sweetest-sounding refrain,

Coursing down my grateful back,
enclosing me in a veil of warm vapors,
I close my eyes, taking in the soapy,
pine-like scent permeating the air,
I am in a rain forest without an earthly care,

Everything inside me momentarily at rest,
I reluctantly step out of my Showerfest.
