Edwin Boyd Born in Hartsville (Darlington County), South Carolina, Edwin graduated in 1979 from Hartsville High School. He graduated in 1984 from the University of South Carolina with a BS in pharmacy. Upon graduation, he returned to his hometown as a staff pharmacist in his dad's independent drugstore, the Boyd-Powe Drug Co., where he remained employed for 6 years.

In 1990, he married Katherine Brown from Hartsville, retired from pharmacy, and became the president of Nuspliger Management Corp. based in Columbia, SC.
