Dr John Celes - Sonnet: The Rotten Mangoes
1 Views • Oct 29, 2014
Description
To my surprise, it didn’t return at all;
The rotten fruits turned feast for worm-fiends;
For days on end, that crow never did call!
Perhaps, the crow found better food and thought,
‘When I have tasted ripe fruits, no man has,
Why eat these mangoes that weren’t good with rot? ’
The crow was smarter than I thought, alas!
God feeds the birds with fruits and worms daily;
In fact, they eat the best of foods they want;
They neither sow nor plough the fields truly;
They fly and sing merrily, at times rant!
While selfish man gives stale and rotten things,
God gives the best of foods to all earthlings!
