Doug Jones - A lost dream

dreams lay scattered about me
like chores undone
washed onto shores windy, empty
under a hot sun
where the eagle circles and cries
as I write my name in wet sand
with a stick of thought I find and try
to play lifes game not betting my hand
on the wind peddaling sunlight
over the hills I've climbed
days into night, left and right
I grasp a dream I cannot find
so bright in the black ink sprinkling
memories fadiing into time
like milky twilight near stars twinkling
