12 വർ‍ഷത്തിനിടയിൽ ഇതാദ്യമായി മോദി സർക്കാർ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ഒരു ബിൽ ലോക്സഭയിൽ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. കേന്ദ്രസർക്കാർ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന വനിതാസംവരണഭേദഗതിബിൽ ലോക്സഭയിൽ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. 230 പേരാണ് ഭേദഗതിയെ എതിർത്തത്. പ്രതിപക്ഷം വനിതാസംവരണത്തെ എതിർത്തെന്ന് കാട്ടി പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ വൻ പ്രചാരണം നടത്താനാണ് ബിജെപിയുടെ തീരുമാനം. എന്നാൽ വനിത സംവരണത്തെയല്ല, മണ്ഡല പുനർനിർണയത്തെയാണ് എതിർക്കുന്നതെന്ന വാദത്തിലൂന്നി തിരിച്ചടിക്കാനാണ് പ്രതിപക്ഷം ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്. നിലവിലെ 543 സീറ്റിൽ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് വനിത സംവരണം നടപ്പാക്കിക്കൂടാ എന്ന ചോദ്യമാണ് പ്രതിപക്ഷം ഉയർത്തുന്നത്.For the first time in 12 years, a bill introduced by the Modi government has failed to pass in the Lok Sabha. The Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill was defeated after 230 members voted against the amendment. Following the defeat, the BJP, led by the Prime Minister, has decided to launch a massive campaign alleging that the Opposition is against women's empowerment. Opposition is preparing to strike back, clarifying that they did not oppose women's reservation itself, but rather the linking of the bill to the delimitation process. Opposition is challenging the government by asking why women's reservation cannot be implemented immediately within the existing 543 seats of the Lok Sabha.
