Description

DIAMOND Head’s history is packed with stories which sound like the plot of a classic rock and roll movie. From record deals and massive shows to legal rows and in-band bust ups, the group’s lead guitarist and founding member, Brian Tatler, has seen it all. Brian called at Base Studios in Stourbridge for a Base Sessions chat with Martyn Smith about his career and more than 30 years of Diamond Head. Diamond Head formed in 1976 and became a big name in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal which spawned groups like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Judas Priest. One of Diamond Head’s early fans was a young drummer called Lars Ulrich who travelled from America to see the band and ended up staying at Brian’s house in Wollaston. When Lars returned home he formed his own group - Metallica - who went on to be the biggest metal band on the planet. Brian Tatler’s autobiography, Am I Evil?, is available from www.diamond-head.net.
