Defense expert: Jackson dosed himself with propofol
Description
The involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray continued on Friday (October 28) as Murray's defense wrapped their questioning of their final witness.
Anesthesiologist and propofol expert Dr. Paul White told jurors that he believes Michael Jackson did indeed cause his own death.
White said that there was evidence that Jackson self administered a dose of propofol, which combined with the propofol and other drugs Murray had already given him, caused his death.
White said there was no trace of propofol in part of Jackson's IV - possibly indicating that the singer dosed himself via a syringe.
SOUNDBITE: J. Michael Flanagan, defense lawyer, saying (English):
"When you see that there's no propofol in any delivery device, other than the distill end of the IV line, there's no deployment of the strap used to hang the propofol bottle, does that cause you to think that there's no evidence of an infusion?"
(SOUNDBITE) (English) DR. PAUL WHITE, SAYING:
"Exactly."
The prosecution will begin their cross examination of Dr. White on Monday (October 31).
Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
