Description

The terror attacks in Afghanistan and target killings in Pakistan indicated a surge. The causes of the surge, including the death of Mullah Umar and the custodial killing of Malik Ishaq, the terror leader of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi wre examined. The after effects of Military Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the attack on Army School Peshawar proved to be a catalyst for evolving a the National Action Plan for combating terrorism and eradicating its root causes as well as adopting a proactive role were discussed. The role of the government, the parliament, the opinion builders, the law enforcement agencies, media and ordinary citizens in combating terrorism were highlighted.
