Dazzle Camo in Java
Description
This is a link to a video I shot in Central Java a few days ago. It was the capstone event to celebrate the 100th birthday of Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX (who died in 1988.)
The men dancing are the Sultan's royal guards. To me it captures the special weirdness that is Central Java.
This area in Central Java is called the special region of Yogyakarta or charmingly the DIY (Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.) This area is administered by a hereditary sultan to recognize the help the sultan gave in throwing off the colonial Dutch.
