David Threadgold www.davidthreadgold.com - .5. Just an Apple

Description
I’d stand there on guard duty
To stop the scrumpers scrumping
From my tree now very fruity
I’d watch it in the daytime
Keep an eye on it at night
I’d never go too far away
To keep my fruit in sight
In midday sun I’d water it
If hot I’d give it shades
And when my back is burning
Stay there till sunlight fade’s
If an apple grew on my tree
Getting nothing but the best
Till it grew so large and fruity
Looking nothing like the rest
When it ripened off I’d bite it
But if I should see a grub
I’d forget the flipping apples
And spend more time down the pub
