Cornell Sandifer - City Nights

I hear the sounds of the falling rain
Then dues un paid remain the same
The quench of cars piercing the night
Gifts of god who knows what's right
Starlight before me reveal thy plight
Crime surrounds me with out my sight
Pain and sorrow mix pity and spite
Drained i'm vine and will give no fight
Wind blown city with girt as it gripes
Dust rises above screams, fly like a kite
Then trash swirls as it hurls at my feet
Frowns on the faces of people i meet
i step over those, they lay in the gutter
i'm lost to understand i'm stuck i stutter
Great shades of gray that hide the city
Looking for warmth, damn sure not any
Children of the street no shoes just feet
Things they do must change hear me thru
Dawns on the rise, fighting tears in my eyes
Moving down a avenue, no hope! me or you
