Hygiene obsessed and mentally childlike Whitney accidentally stows away on a cross-country bus. Overnight, she invades the personal space and eventually the personal life of Laurie, who is escaping an unhappy marriage with her cheating husband.Laurie and Whitney don't know it when they first meet, but they need each other. Here, at a crucial point in their lives, neither has a soul to care for them. Both girls are rejects and runaways, unknowingly desperate to find someone they can trust and connect to. They're not looking for a friendship, but that's what a quirky twist of fate delivers. Whitney finds someone who won't discard her, and Laurie finds someone who inspires her.
