Congress passes War Powers measure

The U.S. Senate voted 50-48 to approve a war powers measure calling on President Donald Trump to halt military action against Iran or seek congressional authorization before continuing. The resolution received support from a small group of Republican senators who joined Democrats, highlighting growing bipartisan concerns over the conflict. Earlier this month, the House of Representatives also approved the same measure, making it the first time since the 1973 War Powers Resolution that both chambers of Congress have passed a concurrent resolution directing a president to end a military operation.
