Compassionate Leader: Tim Walz

Tim Walz is an American politician and educator who has served as the 41st Governor of Minnesota.

Walz is a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard where he rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

He spent over two decades teaching high school geography and coaching football, a background that informed his people-centered approach to governance.

Walz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, representing Minnesota's 1st Congressional District for six terms, where he focused on veterans' issues, agriculture, and education.

As Governor he has prioritized healthcare reform, climate change, and economic equity. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his response to civil unrest following the death of George Floyd have been defining moments of his governorship.
