Description

CLA for fat loss is what I will be talking about in today's article and of course, CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid and it is a group of essential, polyunsaturated fatty acids or PUFAs which are found in various foods, such as chicken eggs, beef, milk and so on.

CLA can also be found in safflower oil for instance, perhaps other plants as well and most dietary weight loss supplements that use CLA or take advantage of CLA's fat burning properties to promote fat loss, use safflower CLA.

CLA can in fact promote fat loss, it can offer some support to your metabolism and it does this primarily through offering a small boost to fat oxidation, but it also has some measure of influence on the production of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors which are important receptors that control molecular signaling and energy production so they are essential in the mitochondrial function.

Like most ingredients used by weight loss supplements though, most ingredients or nutrients or chemicals that have the potential to help with fat loss, CLA is not perfect by any means. First of all, I don't need to say this but I will say it anyway, CLA will not make up for unhealthy eating habits and sedentarism, nor will any form of supplementation for the purpose of losing excess fat.

The main issue with conjugated linoleic acid however, is that it is unreliable, perhaps very unreliable with various studies showing different results, contradictory results. Sometimes CLA has a very weak effect, its potency is unreliable, it's not very potent or overly potent. The most used forms of CLA are c9t11 and t10c12 named of course after their specific chemical bonds. Furthermore, CLA found in foods such as grass fed cow's milk and grass fed beef appears to be better, for fat loss as well as its health benefits, than safflower CLA.

Some studies, few however, even show some harmful side-effects of safflower CLA on insulin resistance. I definitely recommend consulting a medic before taking CLA supplementation.
