Christopher Rouse is an American composer. His music is postmodern thanks to the guidance of his teacher George Crumb, yet heavily influenced by George Rochberg’s “hardcore romanticism”. The Suite Friandises came to be choreographed by the New York City Ballet as if it was a French Baroque Suite de Danses in which several numbers from across the ages had been added; a noted example should be the final gallop in which Rouse quotes Glière, Offenbach and Khachaturian.

Christopher Rouse es un compositor estadounidense. Su música es posmoderna gracias a los consejos de su maestro George Crumb, pero altamente influenciada por el “romanticismo duro de George Rochberg. La suite Friandises llegó a ser coreografiada por el Ballet de Nueva York como si fuese una Suite de Danses del barroco francés en el que varios números de otras épocas han sido agregados; notablemente el galope final en el que Rouse cita a Glière, Offenbach y Jachaturián.
