I can't turn it off
It's always there staring me in the face
Yet it's always just out of reach

Why is it that the thing we want is the thing we can't get
Why must I chase it, optimistically running towards it
While it in turn is running away.

We do it because of the uninhibited madness
The freedom and ecstasy that comes with giving yourself
The shared experience, connection, fear and elation
Being friends, more or less, friends all the same
