dans cette réaction, c'est la glycérine qui est oxydée par le permanganate de potassium selon l'équation:
4KMnO4 + 4C3H5(OH)3 --> 7K2CO3 + 7Mn2O3 + 5 CO2 + 16 H2O
la glycérine est chaude affin que la réaction démarre plus rapidement.
