Broken Mirrors (Gebroken Spiegels) 1984 - Part1

Broken Mirrors / 'Gebroken Spiegels' (The Netherlands:1984) Marleen Gorris’s second major feature length film, (following ‘A Question of Silence’ (1982)) was one of the first anti-prostitution feminist films ever made. The main story focuses on two women who work in a legalized Amsterdam brothel as well as several other women working there as strong secondary characters. Over the course of several weeks of daily/nightly life, we see the two main characters slowly deciding to give the life up. There is a second story-line involving a silent serial killer (non-sexual), who abducts women and starves them to death in a basement, threaded throughout the film. He is a quiet non-descript regular john at the brothel. The two independent separate story-lines build to a climactic ending.
