Britain's Best Breaks ~ Chester
3 Views • Nov 28, 2012
Description
Chester's 3-kilometre City Walls are the most complete in Britain, and the unique and world-famous Rows - two-tier medieval galleries with superb shops, are rightfully internationally renowned. There's the Amphitheatre, the largest Roman arena ever discovered in Britain, and the Eastgate Clock comes second only to Big Ben as a destination for keen photographers. Only in Chester will you witness the quaint, twice-weekly issuing of proclamations from May to August of the city's flamboyant Town Criers.
Set in some of Britain's most impressive scenery and easily accessible by road, rail and air, visitors come from all over the world to see the city's sights, including the famous Chester Zoo, opened in 1931. Theatres, clubs and inviting pubs all offer shows and events throughout the year.
With all this going for it, it is little surprise that Chester attracts so many happy visitors, many of whom return again and again.
