Description

Eyes tattered with bouts of sleepless nights
She lay beneath the cold darkness
Her heart pounding against the silent rain lashing against the broken window sills.
Her little mind was painting vulgar eyes all over like a pastiche
The ceiling, the walls even the darkness of the still air had in it for her the cold whispers haunting her neck.
Her helpless body twisted and scared with wounds from her dreams.
Bitten into sleep and sealed in silence she lay like a living corpse waiting together for weeks and thinking of the sweetness of death
As she counted the venomous nights on her little fingers frozen and bitten into silent fear.
To release the nails from her body by which she was hammered into those nights
.......

Mother, she whispered one night tearing away in pain
But which mother would come in the mounting darkness
In which only animals prowled hungry for tender flesh?
Half expecting anything to save her
But as she blacked out, the last she felt was the warmth of an arm

Wrapping around her tired wounded skin surging her up from the icy depths of pain
Torn away by something that she could only but guess later
Maybe a monster that crawls on her in her dreams presenting her with fresh wounds with its sinking nails as she wakes up in cold sweat of the night.
But she wouldn’t forget the love of those eyes to which she woke up the next morning
Even years later as she jolts up from her dreams
Her lips would still murmur what she murmured that morning waking up in the warmth of those arms
‘M-O-T-H-E-R’.
But she hardly bothered whether she really was
And nor did the other care for the rest of her life
She called, she came.
The warmth of her arms and the comfort of her lap was a promise by itself.
