Beatrice Dahlen - Drought Breaker

The soil sips deeply
and puddles do not linger.
It laps with parched lips
at the moisture
so long withheld.
Roots greedily drink
new reserves
to tide
through future
days of drought.
Quaff deeply now
while copious clouds
wring water
from the sterile sky.
